Wartime Housing Limited, created by the federal government to house workers supporting the war effort, built several hundred modest, near-identical houses here — including 248 single-family homes in the Norvick sector beginning in 1942.
After the war the borough boomed, becoming Quebec's second industrial city behind Montreal itself, helped by available land near Dorval and highway access.
